Duane has retired as of January 2022.
Duane was born and raised in Iowa. During his high school and college years, he worked construction and gained his understanding and appreciation for the fundamentals behind architectural design. During his years at Iowa State, he was a member of the Tau Sigma Delta National Honor Society for Architecture and Applied Arts and Phi Kappa Phi, National All University Honor Society. Following studies at the University of Northern Iowa and Iowa State University, he graduated in 1979 with his Bachelor of Architecture. He joined the firm shortly after graduation, making his the longest tenure in the firm. He obtained his Architect’s license in 1988. Duane’s roots in the community run deep with memberships with Cedar Falls Housing Advisory and Appeals Board, St. Patrick’s Church and the Architectural and Construction Drafting Advisory Committee at Hawkeye Community College. Duane and his wife, Lynda, have 2 grown children and 6 grandchildren. His favorite past-times (when he is not at the drafting board) are fishing, softball and vacationing with family.
