Judge Platt Historical House
Judge Platt Historial House
515 East Third Street, Waterloo, Iowa Construction completed: 2019 The Historic Judge Platt house was constructed in 1894 as the home for Judge Franklin C. Platt and his family. The house located at 515 East Third Street is part of JSA Development's contribution to the Walnut Neighborhood Housing Coalition's neighborhood revitalization effort. The house underwent a 16 month, historically-qualified rehabilitation to return the house to its use as a residence. The house is now home to two households (one up and one down). For more information see the Courier article.

For project success, it is vital to have a contractor with a strong attention to detail. The newly constructed porch replicates the porch that was found on the original 1894 home. Details like this were integrated throughout the home, returning it to its glory days.
While two separate apartments were created, the house could be returned to a single family home in the future, if desired. The ultimate goal was to maintain the home's original historic and architectural integrity.
